IONIA- Ella K. Wolverton, 94, of Ionia, died Tuesday, May 28, at her home.
   
She was born the daughter of Jacob and Cornelia Saathoff Martens Feb. 14, 
1897, in McLean County, Ill.

She was graduated from Chatsworth High School in Chatsworth, Ill, and Grays 
College of Music in Bloomington, Ill.

She married Lester Wolverton Aug. 22, 1918. They resided in Orange Township 
until 1972 when they sold their farm and moved to Ionia.

Upon coming to Michigan, she joined the LeValley United Methodist Church, 
serving in various capacities throughout the years.

She was a charter member of the LeValley Farm Bureau and a member of the 
Ionia Co. Farm Bureau. She was a member of the local Extension group for 
over 50 years. She was also a longtime member of the Ionia Woman's Literary 
Club. Other interests included gardening and giving piano lessons.

Surviving are; one son, Richard of Lake Odessa; two daughters, Corinne Brown 
of Gibson City, Ill. and Cori Winton of Warren, Mich.; twelve grandchildren 
and twenty grandchildren; one brother, Louis Martens of Marble, North 
Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lester in 1985, son Robert in 1986 
and daughter Katherine 1937.

Funeral services will beheld at 11 a.m. Friday from the LeValley Methodist 
Church, with the Rev. David Flagel officiating. The organist will be Janet 
Croel.

Burial will be in the Balcom Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the 
Cook Funeral Home in Ionia.

Memorial contributions have been established for LeValley United Methodist 
Church Memorial Fune or a favorite charity, in care of the funeral home.
