Portland Observer, 12 Mar 1918

Oden H. Wood, the engineer who was fatally scalded at the Ypsilanti-Reed 
Furniture plant in Ionia last week, married Miss Nolla? Ferguson several years 
ago.  She was a stenographer in the employ of the Wolverine Soap Co., prior to 
her marriage to Mr. Wood, and was also a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. 
Ritenberg, of Portland.  Her death occurred a few years after her marriage to 
Mr. Wood.

Wood had crawled into the boiler of the engine at the noon hour to inspect same 
and the fireman, not knowing he was inside, turned on the steam.  Wood was so 
terribly scalded that he died after being taken to the city hospital.
