All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sandy Heintzelman sheintz@iserv.net July 29, 2011, 11:26 am Lyons Herald, 20 May 1920 Mrs. Home Emma Wood was born in Bridgton, New Jersey, October 18, 1855, and passed to her heavenly life from her home in Lyons on the 16th of May, 1920, at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 28 days. When she was six months old her parents moved from New Jersey to Illinois and settled near Pontiac, Livingston county, of that state. There she grew to woman-hood. She was united in marriage to D.D. Wood on the 21st of December, 1876; and to them were born twelve children, six sons and six daughters, six of whom are living – they are Frank and Jesse of Lansing, Clinton of Pewamo, Jenny of Belding, George and Lillian of Lyons. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church at an early age and has been an active member of the same, the last nine years being in the church of Lyons. She loved the church, she loved its members and its services, and her faith in Christ was constant. She was a devout mother; she loved her children and her lifelong companions and neighbors. She was taken suddenly ill on Friday morning and passed away at 4:30 o’clock on Sunday morning. Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 and a public service was held from the M.E. church at 3:00 o’clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Chas. Nease. Music was furnished by a choir composed of Mesdames A.E. Bradt and Messrs. John Kalb and C.R. Owen, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. C.H. Randall. Interment in the family lot in the Lyons cemetery. Wood, Petersburg; B.S. Gillman and Wesley Laurence, Ashley; Mr. and Mrs. F.F. Wood, Flint; Mrs. H.G. Thompson, Greenville; H.J. Reichter and family and Mrs. Toan, Orleans; Frank F. Wood and family and Jesse Wood, Lansing; George Green and Mr. and Mrs. James Zeigler, Ionia.
