Ionia Sentinel Standard, 3 Apr 1989

Myrtle Wood, 105, believed to be Ionia County’s oldest resident, died Friday at
Ionia Manor.  She was born Oct. 15, 1883, in Goldfield, Iowa.

She came to Michigan with her family at the age of 10 and had lived in the
Lyons-Pewamo area for the last 95 years.  She was married to Clinton Wood in
1905; he died in 1957.  She was a member of the Pewamo United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Donald; six grandchildren; and 23 great
grandchildren.  A brother and five sisters also preceded her in death.

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial services will be held next Sunday at Hull
memorial Chapel at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Scott Otis of the Lyons-Muir Churches
officiating.  Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery.
