Wood, 73, of 809 Atwater, Lyons died Saturday at a Grand Rapids hospital. He was born August 21, 1905 in Truman, Minnesota the son of George and Edna Wood. He attended the Lyons public school. He lived and worked in the Detroit-Monroe area for several years. In 1931 he moved to Lyons and was an Ionia County Deputy until 1937. He had been employed as a correction officer at the Michigan Reformatory until retirement in 1968. In October 1929, he married Blanche Robinson. Wood was a charter member of Golden Age Senior Citizen Club, Lyons-Muir, Past Master of Lyons Lodge F&AM 37 and attended the Lyons United Methodist church. Survivors include his wife, Blanche; one son, Ronald Wood of Wyoming; one brother, Perry of Lyons; three sisters, Mrs. Hope Cook of Ionia; Mrs. Beth Bigerow of Ionia; Mrs. Josephine Wakefield of Wilcox, Ariz. and two grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Lyons United Methodist church. Rev. Mark Matter officiated. Burial was in the Lyons cemetery. Pallbearers were George, Dale and Greg Wood and Wallace, Michael and David Cook. Funeral arrangements were made by Hull Memorial Chapel of Muir.
