The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, January 26, 1985

Sarah R. Wood, 82, of Kentwood died Thursday in Grand Rapids.  She was a 
former Ionia resident.  Born April 18, 1902, in Maple Valley Township, 
Montcalm County, she was the daughter of Alvin and Alice Stout.

Her husband Harold preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1984.  Surviving are two 
sons, Morrie S. Carpenter of Ionia; Dr. Herbert Carpenter of Ada; a daughter, 
Barbara Clark of Grand Rapids; 14 grandchildren and several great 
grandchildren; a brother, Von Stout, of Fenwick; a sister, Ruth Sinclair, of 
Sheridan.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Metcalf-Jonkhoff Funeral 
Chapel, 2111 44th Street, S.E., Grand Rapids.  Burial will be in West Pine 
Cemetery, Lakeview.  A memorial has been established for the American Cancer 
Society, in care of the funeral home.
