Cancer of the breast was the cause of death. The funeral was attended Monday afternoon at three o’clock from the Woodard Lake church and burial was in Woodard Lake cemetery. Mrs. Wood came here from her birthplace, Chautauqua county, New York, while still a young girl and when Ionia county was mostly a wilderness. Her girlhood days were spent in Montcalm county and in 1843 was married to Barney Wood, one of Ionia’s pioneers. Three daughters and one son were born and they resided for many years on the old homestead at Woods Corners. The death of her husband occurred in 1886, and for the past eighteen years Mrs. Wood had made her home with her son. For eight years she resided in Montcalm county, then on Missaukee county for a time. For the past two years they have lived in Osceola county. One son, L. A. Wood, of Hersey, survives. There are also living seven grand children, two great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Brooks, of Ronald, and Mrs. Emma Noah, of Montcalm county. The remains were brought here by the son. Card of Thanks: I wish to thank the singers, Mr. Herbert Smith, Mrs. Esther Leach, Mrs. H. L. Smith and Miss Smith, and those who sent flowers at the death of our mother. L. A.
