March 30, 2010 Janet Marie Wood, 84, of Belding died Sunday morning, March 28, 2010, at Spectrum Health’s United Memorial Campus in Greenville. Janet was born on Nov. 15, 1925, in Belding the daughter of John and Eva Hauck Kohn. She was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Belding. Janet enjoyed quilting, doing crafts and cooking. In earlier years she helped her husband Robert in running Woods Menswear in Belding. Janet’s greatest love was her family and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Janet was married on Sept. 30, 1948, at St. Joseph Church to Robert F. Wood. Bob preceded Janet, as well as her parents; son, Tim; daughter Jana; her sisters, Kate, Margaret and Mary Ann; and her brothers, John, Jim and Bill. She is loved and survived by her children; Tom and Deborah Wood of Grand Rapids, Beth and David Mahar of Dowagiac, Chris and Terry Gavitt of Belding, Bob Jr. and Stacey Wood of Memphis, Tenn., and Mike and Angie Wood of Belding. Janet is also survived by her grandchildren; Lisa Viergutz, Marcie Chapman, Megan and Scott Nate, John and Danielle Mahar, Drew Mahar, Mason and Ellie Wood, Joe and Dione Gavitt, Sam and Renae Gavitt, Katie Gavitt, matt and Lacy Wood, Molly Wood, Mitch and Val Wood, Isabella Wood and Joseph Wood; her great grandchildren: William,, Maya, Maggie, Lucy, Cal, Bobby, Andrew, Alice, Jack, Hayden, Lilah, Teague, Zachary, Brooklyn; her brothers and sisters; Florence and Pat Burns of Hubbardston, Thomas F. Kohn of Belding, Susan Jones of Pottstown, Pa., Pat Button of Fowler, Carol and Joe Lebek of Sidney, Bob Kohn of Palo, and Paula Conant of Alabama; and two sisters-in-law: Rosemary Wood of Grand Rapids and Evelyn Kohn of Lansing. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Fred Brucker presiding. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with a rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerestein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorials may be giving to the ALS Society of West Michigan or St. Joseph Church.
