Wayne " Pete " Thomas Wood, was born June 30, 1944, in Wayne,
Wayne County, Michigan. He went home to his heavenly family
on September 15, 2015 after a long battle with heart disease
and diabetes. The son of Kenneth and Minnie David Wood Short,
he married Sharon Lee Kinton on March 6, 1965 in Mansfield, 
Ohio. He was employed at Shiloh Tool & Die in Mansfield, 
Ohio. He was also a volunteer fireman and EMT for the 
Madison Township Fire Department in Ohio. 

In 1978, Pete moved his family to Grand Rapids, Michigan to
get acquainted with his father's family. He worked for 
Interstate Trucking, the former Brown's Company in Ionia 
and Meridan Automotive formerly Lescoa Plant 1 in Grand 
Rapids, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Flynn
Wood. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon;
daughter's Rebecca Wood of Belding and Renee (Greg) 
Carlson of Lowell; grandchildren Sean & Mike Wood, Brenden
and Blake Quick, KyLee and Stephanie Carlson, Heather Colvin
and Chrissy Albertson,; great- grandchildren Nathan Woodward,
Shilo and Elsa Albertson and Carter Wood; nieces, nephews
and cousins.

Pete fulfilled a promise to his mother by finishing his 
high school education in 1983 at Ionia Adult Education. He 
was an avid camper and U of M fan. He played and did
some coaching for a semi-pro football team in Mansfield, 
Ohio.

Graveside services by Decon Zenon Cardenas Saturday,
September 19, 2 p.m. at Tuttle Cemetery, corner of Kelsey
Highway and Tuttle Road in Ionia. Visitation Friday, 
September 18 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305
N. Hudson, Lowell, MI. 49331.
