Ionia Sentinel Standard, 4 Feb 1992

Bird R. Woodard, 93, of Ionia died Monday at Ionia County Memorial Hospital.  He
was born Dec. 17, 1898, in Ferris Township, Montcalm County, the son of Robert
and Minnie Kelly Woodard.  He was a farmer and moved to Ionia in 1923 and worked
at the Hayes Ionia Factory and Ypsilanti-Reed Furniture Co.  He enjoyed
gardening, hunting and fishing.

Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Harwood of Ionia; seven grandchildren; 16
great-grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; and a half-sister,
Vernice Roberts of Palm Springs, Calif.  He was preceded in death by his wife
Valerie in 1988, and by three half-brothers.

Funeral and committal services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cook Funeral
Home, with the Rev. Bill Dornbush officiating.  Burial will be in Balcom
Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday at 7 to 8:30 p.m.  A
memorial has been established for Ionia Area Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
