Woodard, 64, of Lyons, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, July 18, at Home of Hope in Grand Rapids. Raymond Lavern Woodard was born July 17, 1934, in Berlin Township, the son of Orrie L. and Faith T. (Albaugh) Woodard. He attended Lyons High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army when he was 17, serving in the Korean Conflict. Woodard retired from TRW after 17 years, and for two years he worked at the State Park on Mackinac Island. He wintered in Clearwater, Fla. fo the past 20 years. He loved hunting and sports, and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. Ray was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by three sons, Gregory L. (Peggy) Woodard of Shawnee, Colo., Chris (Beth) Woodard of Lyons, and John Woodard of Grand Rapids; three daughters, Cheryl (Bob) Brainard of Muir, Connie (Louis) Agostini of Pinckney and Anne (Paul) Brockway of Ionia; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorna Lowrey of Kalkaska; one brother, Daniel (Pat) Woodard of Free Soil, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Thelma Leitch, and two brothers, Walter, and Harold Woodard. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Ionia, with Pastor Darren Tharp officiating. Interment will be in Saranac Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Rich Street Chapel, Ionia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Ionia Area Hospice of Home of Hope. Envelopes are available at the Lincoln Avenue Baptist church and at Cook Funeral Home, Ionia."
