The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, October 14, 1944


Mrs. Sheila Woodbury, 39, of Muir, wife of Lawrence Woodbury, was killed 
Saturday on US-16 near the Coleman School in Orange three miles east of the US-
16 – M-66 intersection.  The accident happened shortly before noon Saturday.  
Mr. Woodbury, driver of one of the cars, was removed to the Ionia County 
Memorial hospital in a dazed condition suffering from head injuries.

Mrs. R. George Humphrey, of Ionia, driver of the second car, was brought to 
the Ionia hospital suffering from possible internal injuries.

Mr. and Mrs. Woodbury were on their way to Lansing where Mr. Wood bury is 
employed in a defense plant and were entering the highway from a cross road.  
Mrs. Humphrey was traveling eastward on the trunkline.  Both cars were wrecked 
in the collision, the Humphrey car being wrapped around a tree, and the 
Woodbury car overturned in a roadside ditch.
