Her death brought to a close 54 years of happy married life for the venerable couple, a life filled with the utmost in devotion, one to the other, and of peace and contentment such as is the lot of but few couples. Her death came as a distinct shock even to those who knew of her ill health. Thursday she was able to be downtown and Friday was about the yard at her home as she loved to be in the springtime. At night she was taken ill and died about midnight. She was born in Pennsylvania December 28, 1842. At the close of the Civil War she came to Michigan and in 1874 was united in marriage to her husband, who survives her. They came to Ionia in 1880 and have resided here since that time. Mrs. Woods up to the very last days of her life was actively interested in church and fraternal work and took prominent parts in the affairs of the various groups to which she belonged. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters until that order disbanded here; belonged to the Women’s Relief Corps and the Ladies of the Macabees and was loyal and active worker for the Baptist church of which she was a member. Greater than these things, however, were her faithful and loving devotion to her family and home and her warm friendship and splendid qualities as a neighbor. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, John G. Bullers, Chicago; William Bullers, Warsaw, Indiana, and Alfred Bullers, Ionia and two stepchildren, Mrs. Lulu Bodie, Columbus City, Indiana and William H. Woods, Mishawaka, Indiana. Rev. F. J. Fitch, pastor of the Baptist church officiated at the funeral. Burial was in Highland Park cemetery.
