Woodworth, 73, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002 at Troy Hills Elder Care Center in Parsippany, N.J., after a lengthy illness. The daughter of Mildred and Plynn Woodworth, she was born in Ionia and grew up in Lyons and Muir. After graduating from Lyons Township High School in 1946, she worked for two years at the Ionia National Bank. She then entered Eastern Michigan University and graduated with high honors in 1952, earning a music teaching degree. Jean was choral music director at Ionia High School from 1952 to 1954. She later held similar positions in Belding, Port Huron and Birmingham. She eventually changed to elementary classroom teaching in Grand Rapids. After retirement in 1976, she moved to New Jersey where she spent her final years pursuing her life-long interest in landscape painting. She is survived by her brother, Bill Woodworth of Boonton, N.J.; sister-in-law, Diane; two nephews; and one niece.
