Woolsey, 91, of 10359 Emmerson Street, Lake Odessa passed away Friday, September 22, 1989 at Pennock Hospital. Mrs. Woolsey was born May 25, 1898 in Dighton, the daughter of John and Florence (Burnham) Wall. She graduated from Tuston High in 1916, taught school in Tuston area until her marriage to G. “Mach” Woolsey on June 24, 1919 in Dighton. In 1919 moved to the Lake Odessa area where Mr. Woolsey was employed at the Llewellyn Bean Company. In 1925 moved to Cadillac where Mr. Woolsey worked for Michigan Potato Exchange. In 1933 moved back to Lake Odessa where Mr. Woolsey became office manager of Lake Odessa Canning Company. Mrs. Woolsey was an active member of the Central United Methodist Church of Lake Odessa for 70 years. She served as president in the local and state levels of the Women’s Club, the T.B. Society and the Red Cross, was president of P.T.A. when they purchased the first uniforms of the Lake Odessa High School Band. She was a 6th grade teacher when the Lake Odessa school burned in the early 1920s. Mrs. Woolsey is survived by one daughter Mrs. Ted (Laurie) Lapham of Cherry Valley, California; one grandson Grant Moore of Ann Arbor; one sister Mrs. LaVerne (Jean) Roberts of Lake Odessa; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1973; grandson Paul Moore in 1963; brother Clayton Wall in 1961 and sister Reva Wall in 1971. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 26 at Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa with Reverend Keith Laidler officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
