Belding Banner – Thursday, 7 April 1904

John Whitney was born in Chenango County, N. Y., Jan. 4, 1820.  In 1841 he was 
united in marriage to Miss Henrietta Vredenburg, who survives him.  In 1844 
they came to Michigan and settled in Livingston County and in 1868 they came 
to Ionia County.   For 34 years they lived in Otisco Township.  He died at the 
home of his son in Orleans, Mar. 27, 1904.  He leaves to mourn his death, a 
wife, four children and a number of grandchildren also a sister and a host of 
friends.

The funeral services were held at the Free Methodist Church, of which he has 
long been a member, Tuesday, Mar. 29, services conducted by Rev. DaFoe.
