Ionia Daily Sentinel, 1 May 1915

Alice Hunter Worden was born Feb. 10, 1853, at Carlton, Orleans county, N.Y., 
and died at her home in Bushnell, Mich., April 19, 1915, aged 62 years, 2 
months and 9 days.

When nearly four years of age, she moved with her parents to Michigan, settling 
near Saranac.  In February of 1876 she married Robert Sherwood of Ionia county, 
who was soon taken ill of typhoid fever and died just a month after the 
wedding.  About three and one-half years later she was married to Albert Worden 
to whom she has been a faithful wife.  They lived in Berlin, Ionia county until 
April 1882, when they moved to the farm which has since been her home.  One 
daughter, Margaret E., came to brighten their home.  And we can offer no higher 
tribute to her motherhood than that given by this daughter, “She was the best 
of mothers.”

Besides her husband and daughter, Mrs. Worden leaves to mourn a sister, Mrs. 
Chas. Harrington of Ionia and a brother, C. W. Hunter of Fenwick.

There is scarcely a home in the vicinity which, when entered by illness or 
death has not been cheered by her kindly presence or aided by her willing 
hands.  In August 1912 she, with her husband and daughter, united with the M.E. 
church of Fenwick during the pastorate of Rev. H. H. Harris and remained a 
faithful member, attending service whenever consistent.
