She was born October 4, 1922 in Smoaks, South Carolina the daughter of C.M. and Myrtle Lou Crosby. She went on to marry Murray Workman on October 11, 1943 in Charleston, South Carolina. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ionia. She loved traveling with her husband. She was an avid bowler, a terrific golfer, and an accomplished horseman later in her life. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Murray of Ionia, son Mark S.C. Workman of Ionia, daughters Melanie R. and Richard Peabody of Harbor Springs, Teresa C. Workman and Karl Beach of Minneapolis, Minnesota; sisters Kathleen Crosby of Georgia, Bertie Mae Schuler of Bowman, South Carolina and Alice Ritter of Louisiana; grandchildren Nikki and Dan (Peabody) Stahl of Traverse City and Richard Scott Peabody of Tampa Bay, Florida. Upon her request, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ionia, with Rev. Marty Culver officiating.
