Mrs. Elizabeth Wortley, 96, oldest local resident, passed away Saturday at the Cook Rest Home in Ionia after a long illness. She had been a patient therefore about a year. The daughter, of Daniel and Margaret (Parmeter) Lepard, she was about four years old when they came to a farm in Odessa township by covered wagon. Following her marriage to Joseph Wortley May 2, 1880, they lived on farms in Campbell and Carlton townships for many years before moving to their home on S. Main Street which they purchased in 1919. Mrs. Wortley was a member of the First Congregational Church. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Ruth) Cunningham and Mrs. Cleo (Glendora) Sears, of Lake Odessa, Mrs. Charles (Etta) Darby of Woodland, Mrs. Carl (Mary) Campbell of Bradenton, Fla., and Mrs. Lawrence (Leila) Lundberg of Flint; two sons William J. and Walter D., both of Lake Odessa; two brothers, Bert and Lafayette Lepard, also of Lake Odessa, 17 grandchildren, 31 great grand children and 6 great, great grand children. Mr. Wortley passed away in July 1942. Mrs. Wortley reposed at the Pickens Funeral Chapel until Tuesday noon then taken to the Congregational Church where funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Rev. A.J.
