February 20, 1975 Services Held for Alma Wortley Mrs. Alma Wortley, 82, passed away early Sunday morning at Ash Grove, MO., She was born November 20, 1892 in Mecosta County, daughter of Paula and Augusta (Fick) Vietzke and had attended the Stanwood Public Schools and Ferris Institute at Big Rapids. She had been a resident of Lake Odessa since 1915 and taught in the elementary schools int h e Sunfield area before her marriage to Howard Wortley of Lake Odessa. He passed away in 1931. Mrs. Wortley was a Life Member of the Ferris Institute Alumni Association, an active member of the Lake Odessa Congregational Church and Women's Fellowship and served as treasurer of the Sunday School for about 40 years. She was employed as clerk at the Lake Odessa Water Works office for a number of years retiring about 1962. Surviving are two sons, Wayne of Big Rapids and Neil of Springfield, MO.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Dr. Paul Vietzke of Valparaiso, Ind. and August Vietzke of Okemos; four sisters, Mrs.Augusta Diebel of Florida, Mrs.Ellen Oliver of Stanwood, Mrs Eda Telfer and Mrs Amanda Bower of Big Rapids. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10:30 at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel. Rev. Gary Evans officiated with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
