Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2002

George W. Wright aged 85 of Ionia passed away Feb. 25, 2002 in Grand Rapids.  
He was born Feb. 9, 1917 in New Church, Virginia, the son of Elijah and Rosa 
(Merrinar) Wright.

He would go on to marry Florence Esham Dec. 23, 1939 in Maryland.  George was a 
WWII Veteran of the Army Air Corps where was a communication operator.  He was 
a member of the American Legion in Pocomoke, Maryland.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Florence of Ionia; sons Robert W. 
Wright of Saranac, Richard (Peggy) Wright of Saginaw; brother William Wright of 
Kansas City, Kansas; one sister Hazel Illion of Bridgeville, Delaware; 
grandchildren Terri Kerbyson of Ionia, Jeff Wright of Tennessee, Robert (Kathy) 
Wright of Ionia, Wendy Wright of Ionia, Julie and (Bretty) Berger of Ionia, 
Billy Joe Wright of Saginaw.  Six great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter-in-law, Char Wright; 
brother Lester; sister Ruth; and sister-in-law Margaret Wright.

Upon his request cremation has taken place and private family services will be 
held at a later date.  Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to the 
Ionia County Commission on Aging in care of Lake Funeral Home, Ionia.
