                         ERNEST A. WRIGHT

IONIA-Ernest A."Ernie" Wright, 64, of rural Ionia, died Sunday afternoon at 
St.Mary's hospital in Grand Rapids, where he had been a patient for ten days.

A longtime rural Ionia businessman, he was born in Ionia Township August 8, 
1914, on the farm where he had made his home his entire life.

The son of Frank and Minnie Angell Wright, he attended schools in Ionia. He was 
employed by the Grand Valley Packing Co., Peschke's Packing Co., and then 
Houghton's Packing Co.. He then operated his own business, Wright' Wholesale 
meats, for about 35 ears before selling the business in 1975.

He was married to Hazel Fletcher in Ionia on August 14,1937, and since 
retirement they have been spending their winters in Florida, and in the summer 
he has been doing part-time farming and butchering.

Survivors include his wife Hazel, one son, Allen of St.Cloud, Fla.,one daughter, 
Mrs.Jack (Linda) Cooley of Grand Rapids one grandson and four step-
grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home 
with the Rev. Howard McDonald of the Muir Presbyterian Church officiating.

Burial will be in North Plains Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home to receive friends and relatives Monday 
and Tuesday evenings from 7-9.

A Memorial fund has been established for the Muir Presbyterian Church and 
Contributions may be left at the Funeral Home.
