Ionia Sentinel - Friday, Nov. 13, 1885

ROSINA
Diptheria visited the family of Gardner Wright, of Odessa last week, and carried of

one of his children and to of his sisters who came from Hillsdale county visiting. 
Mr. Wright is an old schoolmate of our and we deeply sympathize with him in his sad

bereavement. We understand Mrs. Wright is suffering with the same disease at this 
writing. 

                                  DIPHTHERIA.
Odessa, Nov. 10 - Diphtheria found its way into Odessa in some manner about two 
weeks ago, and made a peculiarly unfortunate and fatal attack at the home of Gardner

Wright. A sister of Mrs. Wright, with two children, from the east part of the state

was there on a visit. On Sunday the 1st inst., at nearly the same time, the two 
visiting children aged fifteen and four years, and Mrs. Wright and daughter, Etta 
aged twelve years, were taken down with malignant diphtheria. On Friday one of the 
children died, on Saturday another and on Sunday Etta also died. They were all the 
children of the two families, which are thus left desolate. Mrs. Wright at this 
writing is much better.
