Excerpts from Portland Obituary

NANCY "NAN" J. WRISLEY
Died October 23, 2021-age 85 of Okemos, MI
Born September 3, 1936 in Eaton County, MI
Daughter of Merle & Myrtle Wrisley.
Nan was a lifelong nature enthusiast. She worked her way through the ranks to 
become an executive director for the department of Waste Reduction for the State 
of Michigan & then volunteered at the Nature Conservancy for 28 years after her 
retirement.
She loved  being in the woods hiking, learning about the plants and animals she 
encountered & befriending all of the dogs she met on the trails. She also 
enjoyed spending time with family & friends, picking berries and keeping the 
deer out of her flower garden.
Nan was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Jeanne Petrie, Una (Nony) 
Ralston, and Alice ;(Scott) Wright. 
Survived by her sisters, Diane Starkweather & Mary Wheeler; her brother, Nyal 
Conklin; her daughters, Tracy Merrill, Dana Merrill & Shawna Merrill and her 
seven grandchildren.
Visitation will take place 5-8 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at Lehman Funeral 
Home, 210 E.Bridge St., Portland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy or 
St.Vincent DePaul in honor of Nan.
