Kay Yager, 71, of Lake Odessa, went home to be with her Savior and Lord on Friday, March 25, at her home with her family by her side. Kay was born on Feb. 15, 1940 in Lake Odessa, the daughter of Nelson and Marguerite (Seger) Hansbarger. Kay battled the debilitating effects of multiple sclerosis for over 30 years, yet her faith in Christ and fighting spirit allowed her to press on with a positive spirit, against all odds. Kay was known by all for her ever-present smile and sense of humor. Kay was a stay-at-home mom who loved her husband and children. Kay loved and was proud of each of her grand children and great grand children. Kay loved her church family (Sebewa Baptist Church) and was faithful in service of her Lord her entire life. Kay loved to read and she loved to have others read to her. Kay was a friend to all who crossed her path and will be greatly missed by her family, church family and friends. Kay is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Cameron Theo Yager Sr.; her children Cameron Jr. (Pat) of Lake Odessa, Steve (Dawn) of Woodland, Rick (Michelle) of Freeport and Vonda (Greg) Mattson of Lake Odessa; her brother, Harlow (Oralia) Hansbarger; 12 grand children; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Kay was preceded in death by her father and mother. Visitation with the family will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Koops Funeral Chapel – Lake Odessa. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Sebewa, 13010 Goddard Road, Lake Odessa, with Pastor Greg Mattson officiating. Interment at West Sebewa Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Kay’s name may be directed to Pennock Hospice, 1230 W. State St., Hastings, MI 49058.
