Nov. 30, 1961 Clarence J. Yager Buried Wednesday Clarence J. Yager, 71, passed away at Blodgett Memorial hospital in Grand Rapids, Monday morning following a short illness . He had been a patient at Grand Rapids for a few days and had been transferred from Pennock hospital, Hastings. Mr. Yager, a native of Sebewa township was the son of Fred and Maggie Yager. He had served as Ionia County supervisor for twelve years, a former village council member and was a field representative for the Lake Odessa Canning Co., for several years until his retirement in 1955. A member of the Congregational church and Ionia country club, Lake Odessa F. & A.M lodge no. 395 and was a 32nd degree Mason. For many years he was in business here and operated a grocery and meat market until selling the business to Dean Dodge. His first wife, the former Edith Haddiix passed away in 1945 and in December 1952 he married Walburga Morgan. Surviving are his wife; a daughter Mrs. Robert (Elaine) Broderick of Birmingham and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, at 1:30 which was his birthday, at the Pickens funeral Chapel with burial in the Lakeside cemetery. Rev. L .V. Runyon officiated.
