CHRISTIAN YAGER DIES UNEXPECTEDLY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. Had Been Married Nearly Fifty Years, A Good True Wife and Mother, Sister of Dr. Carpenter To the great surprise of all, Mrs. Christian Yager, living just northeast of the village, died very suddenly about 2:00 O'clock last Friday morning of heart trouble. In the early part of the day before, Thursday, Mr. Yager and she started to make ready to go over to their son Fred's farm. Mr. Yager first went to call on their daughter, Mrs. Eli Deatsman, nearby and upon his return found his wife suffering very great pale from what the doctor pronounced "gall stones." Mr. Yager saw at once that the visit to the farm must be postponed, and soon returned to his daughter's to phone for the doctor. Mrs. Deatsman accompanied him home to help care for her mother. The other daughter, Mrs. Robert Austin was also called, arriving about the time the doctor did. The doctor thought the trouble would not last long, that perhaps by noon she would feel easier, leaving some medicine with careful instructions as to giving it. By observing the extra precaution given as to the medicine, the mother was made easier about noon time and from then on during the afternoon and evening rested quietly, sleeping much of the time and remarking from time to time to those waiting on her that she felt much better and that she would soon be well. Their son, Fred Yager, and wife came after supper and remained until quite late. All test that all serious trouble was entirely gone the mother insisting that the two daughters should retire, that it was not at all necessary for them to sit up with her. They, however, merely lay down in an adjoining room, arising from time to time to see how their mother was and to give her the medicine. Imagine the shock to Mrs. Deatsman when about 2 o'clock she came to the bed side of her mother with the hope and expectation of finding her nearly well, to find her cold in death. The father and other daughter were at once summoned and scarcely could they make themselves believe their dear one could not speak to them, but such is the uncertainty of life as many are the instances to testify and so we must reconcile ourselves to the inevitable. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, at the Methodist church, conducted by Elder Mourer, and the remains were laid to rest in Lakeside cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Yager were looking forward with pleasant anticipation to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary next Fall.
