SHIRLEY JEAN YAGER

LAKE ODESSA-Shirley Jean Yager, 56, of Hasting, formerly of Lake Odessa, died 
Wednesday at the Tendercare Nursing Home, Hastings.

She was both on February 10, 1936, in Lake Odessa, the daughter of Berwin and 
Madeline Durkee Stadel.

She was graduated from Woodland High School in 1953 and attended Western 
Michigan University where she studied Music.

She taught piano lessons in the Lake Odessa area for many years. She was a 
member of the Lakewood United Methodist church. She married Duane Yager on May 
20, 1956 in Lake Odessa.

She is survived by her daughter Tammy Smith of Lake Odessa; two sons; Jim of 
Rockford, Ill. and Time of Houston; four grandchildren; her mother Madelene 
Goodemoot of Lake Odessa; her brother Dallas Stadel of Lansing; two step-
sisters; Sharon Brink of Ida and Jean Mulford of Flat Rock; two step-brothers; 
Von Goodemoot of Lake Odessa and Alan Goodemoot of Woodland; several nieces, 
nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father in1962 and her stepfather Ford Goodemoot 
in 1991.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lakewood United Methodist 
Church, with the Rev. Ward Pierce officiating.

The family will be at the Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa, from 2 to 4 p.m. 
7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the 
Lakewood United methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.
