Mrs. Jane M. Yates closed her earthly career. She was one of the earliest of the pioneers, coming to this county in the year 1835, August 13 making this her home almost sixty-four years. She was born in Skaneateles, Sept. 10, 1816, making her over eighty years old. Coming to this country in its early life, she knew all the privation, incidents to the settlement of it, and was known for acts of kindness to those with whom she came in contact. This can be said of Mrs. Yates, though deprived of sight during her last years, she saw by the eye of faith the glory of that other land where none shall ever grow old. Loved mother, fare thee well a while, We too, must rest beneath the sod. That little while will soon be past, Then may rest with Christ, with God.
