He was born July 17, 1909 in Czechoslovakia the son of John and Elizabeth (Ciubla) Yenchar. He married Ann Losonsky July 15, 1939 who preceded him in death in 1999. John was an air raid operator during WWII. He was employed as a telegraph operator for Grand Trunk Railroad for forty-five years. He attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ionia and was a past member of Hunting and Fishing Club. He loved nature, hunting and fishing and passed his love along to his family. He is survived by sons, Steve (Jane) Yenchar of Ionia, John Yenchar of Fenwick and special friend Sue Gachter; daughter, Elizabeth (David) Hausserman of Fenwick; sister, Anna Micka of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Andy, and nephew Andy Jr. Funeral services and visitation were held Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Freme officiating. Interment was in Easton Cemetery. The family received friends and family at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
