Ionia Sentinel Standard - May 8, 2011


Alberta Mary Yeomans, 98, of Ionia passed away May 8, 2011 in Ionia. She was 
born July 20, 1912 in Kendall, Ill., the daughter of Albert and Margarite 
(Kroft) Johnson.

She graduated from Copley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Aurora, Ill., 
in 1934. She worked as an RN for many years until eventually working at Ionia 
County Memorial Hospital until retiring in 1975. Alberta married Gerald Yeomans 
March 7, 1935 in Grand Rapids, he preceded her in death in 2006. She was a 
member of First United Methodist Church.

Alberta is survived by her children, Geraldine Minard of Saranac, Frances 
Pierson of New York and James (Mary) Yeomans of Midland; nine grandchildren and 
17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; two sisters; one 
brother; one great grandson; and one grandson in law.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist 
Church with Pastor Larry Brown officiating. Visitation will be held Friday 2 to 
4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia and noon Saturday until time of 
service at the church. Interment Easton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the First United Methodist 
Church or First United Methodist Church Soup Kitchen or Charity of Choice.
