Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Sat. Aug. 17, 1968

A former Ionia resident, Byron A. Yeomans, age 98, of Magnolia Springs, Ala., 
died august 17, at his son’s residence in East Brewton, Ala. 

Born in Ronald township, Ionia county, December 9, 1869, he was the son of 
Walter and Jane Herrick Yeomans, early settlers of Ronald township.

After graduating from Ionia high school in 1886, he taught in rural schools 
before and after his marriage to Fannie McCarty, December 10, 1890. She 
preceded him in death October 28, 1951.

They made their home in Ronald township on the farm where he was born, moving 
to Ionia and later to Magnolia Springs, Ala., where he resided the rest of his 
life. 

Survivors are two sons, Roy of East Brewton, Ala., and Walter of Ionia, two 
grandchildren, Bob Bannett of Orleans and Arlene Horricks of Ionia, and six 
great grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Elfreda Bennett, preceded him in death on 
July 10, 1922.

Funeral services will be at Stone-Kauffman funeral home Tuesday at 2 pm with 
interment at Woodard lake cemetery.
