Jim attended Ionia Public Schools where he graduated June of 1961 before attending Michigan State University to earn his Bachelor of Science in Math and Science Education in 1966. For the next two years Jim taught Math and Science at St.Johns High School, then started as a Computer Programmer for IBM in the Great Lakes Bay Region from 1968 to 1991. In retirement he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren, as well as managing the family farm in Ionia. Jim married Mary Jane( Strachan) Yeomans on August 8, 1964, at Ionia First United Methodist church. He was also a member in theFarm Bureau, Chippewa Nature Center charter member of the Midland Woodworkers, and Midland First United Methodist Church. James is survived by his wife, Mary, son John A.Yeomans and wife Mary (Scott) Yeomans of Solon, Iowa, daughters Jamie A. Yeomans and husband Robert Stephenson of Okemos, Michigan and Jennifer A (Yeomans) Schimming and Husband Aaron Schimming of New Albany,Ohio.To cherish his memory are grandchildren Katy, Brad, Mike and Ben Yeomans, Rebecca and Andrew Yeomans-Stephenson, and Caleb, Hope and Nathanael Schimming. "Jimmy" is also survived by his two older sisters Geraldine Minard of Saranac, Michigan and Frances Pierson of Wappiners, Falls,New York, as well as many nieces and nephews. James was supportive of many charities through out his life time. In honor of his legacy, please consider giving a gift to your favorite charity, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or Midland First United Methodist church. Service for Jim will be held on Saturday, April 2nd at 1 PM from Midland First United Methodist Church, 315 West Larkin. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Friday, April 1st from the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street in Midland, and at the Church from 12 noon until time of service.
