Lake O Times - Thurs. March 7, 1907

Stephen S. Yoder, an old resident of Odessa, but who for a number of years has 
lived on Fifth avenue in this village, died Saturday morning from an attack of 
apoplexy.

At about the usual time Saturday night Mr. Yoder went to the barn to do the 
chores and was gone an unusually long time. Mrs. Yoder became alarmed at his 
long absence and went over to the home of Godfrey Hutchins next door. She told 
Mr. Hutchins and he went to the Yoder barn where he found Mr. Yoder lying on 
the floor beside his horse where he had fallen when stricken.

Help was summoned, a physician called and the dying man was taken to the house 
but never regained consciousness. 

Mr. Yoder had been in failing health for a long time and on the

Stephen Yoder was born in Somerset, Co., Penn., July 11, 1849, and died in Lake 
Odessa, March 2, 1907, making him, at his death, 62 years, 1 month and 21 days 
of age.

He was married to Lucinda Livingston who died, leaving him a widower, March 2, 
1887. To this union were born four children of whom a son, Walter, and a 
daughter, Susannah, preceded him to their eternal home. He was married again to 
Mrs. Jolly Stahl, Feb. 25, 1892, who survives him. He leaves beside his wife, 
two daughters, Mrs. A. Blough and Mrs. O. J. Stahl, four stepchildren, three 
grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his departure.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. I. H. Mourer at the old Mennonite church at 
Bowne.
