Yonkers, retired farmer, died Sunday afternoon at Pennock hospital, Hastings, after a short illness. He had been in failing health for more than a year after suffering a stroke and was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday. He was born March 5, 1885, and spent his early life in the Boston township and Grand Rapids areas. He was employed by a furniture factory and for several years was a street car operator. Mr. Yonkers married Emma Kotesky in 1905, and they moved to Lake Odessa from Caledonia in 1949. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George (Violet) Miller of Hastings, and Mrs. Floyd (Esther) McVay of Lake Odessa; three sons, Edward of Caledonia, Irving of Clint, Mississippi and Lester of Lake Odessa; one brother, George of Freeport; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mrs. Yonkers died about three years ago. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Cross-Miller Funeral Home at Caledonia with burial there. He reposed at his home at 1526 North Fourth Avenue, Lake Odessa, Tuesday.
