York, 84, of Kalamazoo, former Lake Odessa resident died suddenly early Sunday morning on her birthday at the home of her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce York at Okemos, where she was visiting. Born August 9, 1886 in Odessa township she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Bever. She was married October 6, 1906 to Ernest G. York and he died in 1942. She had lived in Lake Odessa and Grand Rapids and after the death of her husband had returned to Lake Odessa. The past two years she had resided at Merrill Residence in Kalamazoo. She was a member of Congregational church of Lake Odessa and its women’s fellowship, also Lake Odessa chapter of OES. Surviving besides her son are two daughters, Mrs. Lavern Butler of Kalamazoo and Mrs. Robert Addison of Sturgis; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Verna Klingman and brother, George Bever both of Lake Odessa. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa. Rev. Marvin Zimmerman will officiate and interment will be at Lakeside cemetery.
