Dr. W. K. .Spencer was the officiating clergyman, and while he was not intimately acquainted with the deceased, he said he could speak only in highest praise of the life and character of the man, a man of thrift and honest endeavor, forming these conclusions particularly from the many words he had heard in Iona since the death, coming from among those who had known the deceased in his lifetime. There was but unanimous opinion of highest regard for the man. The singing was by Mrs. Benedict and Mrs. Phelps, and the remains were carried to Highland Park cemetery by H. A. Rich, James F. Tower, George Knowles, Henry L. York, Earl Curtis and the son, Bert S. York. There were many flowers and besides the relatives there were many friends of the family at the funeral.
