April 11, 1980 IONIA-Fred York, 77, of Ionia died in Ionia County Memorial Hospital Thursday. He was born May 2, 1902, in Cheboygan, Wisconsin, the on of Charles and Sofiehe (Buppel) York. The family moved to Michigan and Mr. York attended school in Owosso. He married Margaret Gustafson in Ionia April 8, 1928. The couple made their home in Flint, then Lansing before moving to Ionia in 1944. The Yorks owned and operated Yorks Service Station and Store in Saranac for 21 years. Mrs. York preceded her husband in death Dec. 6, 1969. Surviving are two daughters, Madeline York of Ionia and Mrs. Guy Robert (Mary) Cloyd of North Fork Meadows, Fla.; a brother, Dave, of Three Rivers, and two grandchildren. Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Leddick Funeral Home, with the Rev. Nolan Williams officiating. Burial will be in Easton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the organ fund at First United Methodist Church, and left at the funeral home.
