Mrs. York was the wife of George York, who were residents of this village a good many years, where Mr. York was president of the Board of Education several years. He also filled the office of village president and that of trustee many years. Ernest York, the only surviving member of the family lives in Grand Rapids but spends much of his summer at his resort home here. The mother and son's funerals were held at the Congregational Church. The former on Sunday afternoon and the latter Wednesday afternoon. The bodies of both were brought here from Michigan City, Indiana. The Eastern Star attended in a body at hers and the Knights Templars of Hastings at his.Burial was at lakeside cemetery. Lake Odessa Wave-Times-March 28, 1929 OBITUARIES OF MOTHER AND SON Mrs. Caroline York Mrs. George B. York was born in the town of Genoa, Livingston county, Michigan, July 7th, 1847. Her maiden name was Caroline M. Perse. She died at the home of her son Charles, at Michigan City, Indiana, on March 13th last, at the age of 82 years and 8 months. She was united in marriage to George B. York in 1867 and lived on a farm in Livingston county for a few years, later then to lake Odessa until the death of her husband on August 1st, 1907. She had three sons, Charles, Herbert and Ernest. Herbert died at Lake Odessa July 15, 1906, Charles died March 16, 1929, leaving the son Ernest as the only surviving member of the immediate family. Mrs. York was a member of the Women's Relief Corp, Ladies of the Maccabees and the Eastern Star, also a member of the Congregational Church of Lake Odessa.
