Mr. York was accustomed to rising early, and when he failed to appear at the usual time the son went to his room to investigate. There he discovered the dead body of his father. Mr. York had been in poor health for about three years, although he had never been subject to heart attacks. On Saturday afternoon he helped his son, Ben, draw wood, and when two of his children returned home from a neighbor’s at about midnight he arose and enjoyed a short chat with them, being then in his usual health. Mr. York was born near Lockport, N.Y. Feb. 19th, 1843. At the age of 12 years he moved with his parents to Livingston county, Mich., locating in Danby township about 40 years ago. His wife died about 17 years ago. A sister, Mrs. Charles Palmer, of Lansing, and three children, Mrs. Elmer McLean, of Eagle township, and Ben and Elva York, living at home, survive. Funeral services were held at the late home at 2:00 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. W. Slee, of the local M. E. church, and the remains were interred in the Danby township cemetery.
