Youmans, 58, formerly of Belding, died unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, in Kingman, Ariz. Jim graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1965. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of dedicated service. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Velma Rickert Youmans. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sharon Merdzinski Youmans; three children, James II and Jeanne Youmans, Lynn and Aaron Velthouse, Brad Welch; five grandchildren, Ashley, Samantha, Jordan, Blake, Ethan; brothers and sister, Vicki and Tom Kuiper, Victor and Cindy Youmans, all of Belding, Jesse and Jeanne Youmans of Saranac; sisters-in-law, Mary and Alan Berthiaume, Kathryn and Richard Pilczuk, Germaine Merdzinski; brother-in-law, James and Melanie Merdzinski; and cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. According to Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place and services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 1630 Godfrey Ave. SW, Wyoming, Mich. Sutton Funeral Home, Kingman, Ariz., is in charge of arrangements.
