For several years following his marriage Mr. Young resided on a farm south of Ionia. Later he gave up farming and took up the carpenter trade, and while employed at his trade made a trip west for the purpose of doing construction work for the railrod and was gone two years. Shortly after his return here he became engaged in the grocery business with James Hanigan in a store located on the Main and Jackson street corner. After retiring from this buisness he again turned his attentions to farming, and conducted a small dairy farm north of Ionia at the end of Morse street and 10 years ago discontinued this buisness for the carpenter work. He leaves three sons, Herbert of Grand Rapids; Ralph of Detroit; Stanley of Muskegon; two daughters, Evelyn of Muskegon and Eva at home and the widow, who was Miss Sarah Ferris and to whom he was married 46 years ago; also two brothers and a sister, Frank Young, and Mrs. Edward T.
