He was born August 13, 1900 in Boston Township, the son of Robert and Nelly Leece Young. He attended South Bell school and graduated from Lowell High School in 1918. He lived and farmed all his life in the Clarksville area. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, South Boston Grange, and a former member of the South Boston Congregational Church, and had a long interest in the early history and Indian lore of his community. He is survived by a sister, Alice Young, and several cousins. One sister, Mary Belle Young, died in 1975. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel in Clarksville, with the Rev. Elwood Norton officiating. Burial will be in South Boson Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Clarksville Bible Church missionary fund, in care of the funeral chapel.
