Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard - Mon. Feb. 7, 1949

Funeral serviced for Melvin A. Young, who died Wednesday evening, were held 
Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the Stone funeral home. The Rev. Wayne 
Davis, pastor of the Ionia Church of Christ, officiated with interment in the 
family blot in Balcom cemetery.

Bearers were Edward Belchar, Robert Young, Kenneth Ritenburg, Russell Baird, 
Judson Maynard and Earl Nobis. 

Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Glen 
Young and Darlene, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Guernsey and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie 
Morrison and son of Saranac; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew White, Barbara and Caroline, 
and Mr. and Mrs. Harry White of Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. William Young, 
Lorraine and Joyce, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Leighton and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young of 
Ypsilanti; Mrs. Joe Beeman, Paul and Enoch, of Howard City; Mr. and Mrs. Julius 
Nobis, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nobis and Mrs. Garold Brown of Muir; Mrs. David McCord 
of Easton; Mrs. Holgar Larson of Lyons; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Bliss, Mr. and Mrs. 
Vernon Bliss, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rogers and Mrs. Rose Warner of Greenville; Mrs. 
Cora Rogers of Orleans and Miss Helen Youngs and Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Monks of 
Portland.
