Ionia Sentinel Standard, 21 Mar 1983

Portland – Helen M. Young, 90, of 41 Janie Ave., Lakeland, Fla., died Sunday in
Lakeland.  Born June 6, 1892, in Clare County, Mich., she was the daughter of
Allen J. and Mary E. Coffey McCormick.  She was an employee of the Michigan
Employment Security Commission when the first office in Detroit was opened and
she retired as manager of the Ionia MESC office in April 1958, after 25 years
with the department.

Surviving is one sister, Huldah Fineis of Claremont, Fla., and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from Neller Funeral Home Wednesday at 1 p.m.,
with the Rev. Dow Chamberlain of Portland United Methodist Church officiating. 
Burial will be in Portland Cemetery.
