Young, 57, of Belding, passed away Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at her home with her husband and son by her side. She had been in ill health for years but continued to bring happiness to all who knew her because of her optimistic outlook on life. She was born April 24, 1948, in Belding, the daughter of Harry Russell and Dorothy Buell Sage. She was a graduate of Belding High School with the class of 1966 and lived in the Belding area all of her life. In December 1966, Pat was married to Richard Fay Church. To this union were born three daughters and a son, Richard P. Church. Following the death of Richard Fay Church in 1974, Pat married Kenneth Young in 1980. Together they raised with pride Pat’s young son, Richard, and in May of this year they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Pat was employed 25 years at Sears and Roebuck in Greenville and then joined her husband in forming their business K&P Young and Son. Ken and Pat worked as a team in supporting community activities and organizations such as the Belding Fire Department and the Belding High School band. She was a member of Belding United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. In spite of her failing health, she continued to support many other individuals. She was preceded in death by her three daughters in infancy; first husband, Richard; parents and two brothers, Russie and John. Pat is survived by her husband, Kenneth; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jodi Church; grandchildren, Keegan “Putz” and Makenna “Red” Church; her precious little dog, Pepper; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Belding United Methodist Church with Pastors Connie Schatz and Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment is in Otisco Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Belding Fire Department, the Belding Ambulance Service, the Grattan Fire Department or Belding United Methodist Church.
