Isabel M. Young, 81, of Ionia died Sunday at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital.
 She was born the daughter of Gardner and Ludia Hoppough Howard on Jan. 22,
1911, in Greenville.  She was graduated from Ionia High School in 1929.  She
attended Central Michigan University and received a teacher’s certificate in
1932.  She taught several years and Kent County and Mount Morris.

In 1936, she married Murray G. Young of Mt. Pleasant.  He preceded her in death
in 1979.  She returned to Ionia, moving to Lowell in 1986, due to poor health. 
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ionia and the Afternoon
Circle.

She is survived by her sister Ethel K.Trautman of Ionia; two nieces; Joanne
Mirando of Montoursville, Pa. and Sue Ottney of Mt. Pleasant; one nephew,
Michael Trautman of Bloomfield Hills; and six grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. 
Burial has taken place.  Memorials have been established for the First United
Methodist Church Memorial Fund and the American Lung Association, in care of the
Cook Funeral Home, Ionia.
