June 20, 2013 ELDING- Elva Mae Young, 90, of Belding, formerly of Montana, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday evening, June 16, 2013, at her daughter's home near White Cloud. Elva was born Oct. 17, 1922, in Colby, Mont., to Florence (Brenstesen ) and Russell Willer. She graduated from Westby High School in Montana, then attended St. Mary's Nursing School in Williston, N.D. at age 17. She served her country in the U.S. Army as a nurse earning the rank of second lieutenant in 1945. Elva loved nursing and continued caring for countless others until her mid 70s. Elva loved to read "Discover" magazine, talk about the stars, watching British TV programming, dancing, eating jelly beans and golden vanilla ice cream, socializing, bragging about her family's talents and special events as well as spending quality time with her family and friends who will miss her greatly. She was married to Forest Young on June 6, 1947 in Montana. Elva is loved and survived by her children, Sheila (Don) Moran of White Cloud, Gail (John) Swan of Vestaburg, Karen Young of Belding, Forrest Young of Lowell, Lisa (Chris) Puehler of Belding; her grandchildren, Sherri (Dale) Nichoson, Amy (Tim) DeBerg, Kristine Johnston, Guy (Brandy) Jeffrey, Steven (Amanda) Moran, Michael Moran, Leslie (boyfriend, Mike) Keeler, Aaron Keeler, Laura (Terry) Hansen, Crystal (partner Christa) Patrick Young and Caleb (Cassandra) Young; her great grandchildren, Kylie, Dylan and Skylar Nichoson, Tad and Tori DeBerg, Dustin and Cara Enbody, Tiayanna, Alana and Natalie Jeffrey, Keegan, Jayden and Madison Moran, Justin, Jeremiah and Taylor Keeler, Tanisha Keeler, Brittanie and Tyler Papendick, Jordan and Jayda Young; four great-great grandchildren, Emmett DeBerg, twins Nicholas and Jacob Johnston, Madison Keeler and 'adopted' grandson, Steve Patterson; and Doc Andenno, her best friend and many, many more who have called her 'Mom' or 'Grandma'. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers and sisters, Verna, Vernon and Norma; and daughter, Collene Sparks. Celebration of life events will take place 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2013, at the VFW, 114 N. Bridge St., Belding, and at The Shack, 2263 W. 14th St., White Cloud at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29. All family and friends are invited to both celebrations. A private military burial at Fort Custer, Battle Creek, will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given in lieu of flowers to the library of your choice or to the American Cancer Society. Funeral care has been entrusted to Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.
