FRED HERBERT YOUNG
Fred Herbert Young, age 77 of Ionia, passed away Feb. 2, 2016 in Florida. He was 
born April 26, 1938 in Grand Rapids, the son of Fred and Gladys (Walters) Young.

Fred married Kathryn Lemke Oct. 20, 1962 in Ionia. He was a gradate of Lyons 
High School class of 1956. Fred owned and operated Young Grocery in Pewamo until 
getting drafted into the Army where he served in Germany.

After the service he worked for Meijer until retiring in 2000. He loved country 
music, camping, square dancing, traveling and stay in Florida.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Kathryn Young of Ionia; 
children, Jeffery (Cindy) Young of Ionia and Dawn Young of Ionia; grandchildren, 
Jennifer (Scott) Edwards of Belding, Tyler Young of Ionia, Garrett Daly of Ionia 
and Kelli Bratcher of Cedar Springs; great-grandchildren, Lain Edwards and Ryder 
Singleton; sisters, Sharon Kobera of Lyons and Mary Ann (Bill) Erridge of 
Trufant; adopted granddaughter, Tiffany Miller; and special friend Rodney Feezor 
of Florida.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday Feb. 11 at Lake funeral Home in 
Ionia with Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens. 
Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ionia County Purple Week Cancer Awareness.
