February 6, 1969 RAY JOHN YOUNG Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Huffman Funeral Home for Ray John Young, 68, of 403 South Pearl Street. Rev. Wilford Wood officiated.Interment was at River Ridge Cemetery. Mr.Young died Wednesday, January 29 at his home.He was born June 7, 1900 at Greenville, the son of Ezra and Agnes (Edwards)Young. Mr.Young was married to Mildred Howard August 10, 1921 at Stanton.He came to Belding in 1933. For the past 10 years Mr.Young had served the city of Belding as a justice of the peace, retiring January 1, 1969. He was a member of First Congregational Church, past Commander of Belding post of American Legion, served in World War I with the Royal Canadian Dragons and was a member of American Legion 40 ct 8. He served as chairman of Belding's Centennial committee, was a member of Silver Lake Country Club and Morrison lake Country Club was a member of the Washington Club and Good Fellowship Club and was a lifelong member of the Republican Club. Mr.Young was a member of Belding Community Hospital board. He had worked 25 years for the State of Michigan as a auditor and claims adjustor and was employed for several yeqrs in the Greenville Post Office. Survivors include his wife, a daughter Mrs.Kurt (Jean)Becker of St.Johns, a sister Mrs.Roy Johnson of Rockford and two grandsons.
